New place at 28th Ave & 33rd St!
Main Post:
Sad that the previous fish market didn’t work out during Covid. But saw a new Thai place popped up! Was pretty good, bunch of stuff I’ve never had before!
Top Comment: So according to the waitstaff, the dishes are “ancient royalty style”, really different from other Thai restaurants I’ve been to. The seafood skewers are great. The coconut desert was ohhhh so good! Also tried a fried rice wrapped by lotus leaf? Was pretty tasty as well.
Bloomington a good place to live? St Paul lowertown resident moving out!
Main Post:
I'm a new resident of Minnesota living in Lowertown St Paul for the last 9 months.
I'm looking to move out and find a more affordable apartment or town home.
My girlfriend and I (mid 20s) have two dogs and two cars.
We're trying to find a place that can be under 1100/month and allow two dogs and cars.
I alternate work between Burnsville/North of St Paul/Minnetonka.
What neighborhoods would be best?
Any thoughts on Bloomington?
Top Comment: Nothing wrong with Bloomington. Relatively crime free and affordable, but you might need to drive wherever you need to go. Keep in mind, being a renter looking for a new place isn't easy... Just signed a lease today after looking for the past month.
Pension via St James Place via my company
Main Post:
I own my own business, and every month my business is paying into a pension via St James place. This reduces my corporation tax bill and from what I know it’s the most tax efficient way for my business to pay into my pension.
But I am paying St James place a set fee( can’t remember the fee off the top of my head). My question is, is there a way to do this without St James place? And just pay it into a S&P 500 every month. But getting the same tax benefits?
The return from SJP hasn’t been great over the last 2-3 years and I think I would be better off by cutting them out. But not sure how to do it legally and saving money on my Corp tax bill.
EDIT: Thanks everyone, from the comments I’ve found my answer. It looks like I need a SIPP, and SJP aren’t great
Top Comment: Take cover the hoardes are incoming!!! Dozens of people will be along soon to tell you SJP are dogshit . . And they're absolutely right As it's your own company switch to any other provider
Safe place to stay near St. Louis tonight?
Main Post:
Passing through on our cross country trip to bring a new baby home to Maryland after a 10 month quarantine. In Tulsa this morning. Just looking for a safe town to stay in overnight anywhere within an hour of St. Louis. Really the only criteria is that it's a safe quiet place. I don’t know much about St. Louis and am from Maryland where safety from petty crimes and covid is kinda spotty so please don’t take offense to the question! Thanks in advance
Top Comment:
Coming up from Tulsa you'll probably be on 44. Depending on how far you want to drive tonight Rolla, Eureka, or even Kirkwood would all be safe bets with decent places to stay right off the highway.

Malcolm Martin Memorial Park on the banks of the Mississippi on the East side has a great view looking West at the St. Louis skyline.
